Where do I begin

No, it’s not the sweet mournful song of the ever green movie ‘Love Story’ I am talking about…. I just don’t know where do I begin to say, whose fault was it that a tigress ventured into human territory ,a pregnant tigress, looking for a quiet corner perhaps, but little did she know, that her jungle was a safer place where she could have brought her babies to life, safely. She did not know then, that a far more vicious creature roams the earth, a creature who has no mercy, no heart, no consideration. for fellow creatures of it’s ilk…..mankind.…so how could she expect such feelings for her…a lowly animal...So what if she is the magnificent of all animals….so what if her kind has been decimated to a mere thousand…..so what if she has been under the gravely endangered species for the past thirty years… so what if her home is encroached upon, and plundered, and usurped?. How dare does she comes into our field, where chased with a thousand people baying for her blood, and skin, and teeth and nails , she has the temerity to  climb the nearest tree in a frantic bid to save herself and her unborn?   So she is punished…the rampaging crowd first singe her with torches, then when she leaps, or rather falls while trying to escape her little found haven, the murderous crowd beat her with sticks and iron rods…the desperate mother in a vain attempt tries to flee and jumps into the river .All this time, the forest personnel stood by…a tranquilizer gun held in their hands as mute witness to the mayhem that was unfolding before their eyes. As the tigress fought for her life in the river, she was shot with the gun, but the tranquilizer did not put her to sleep as expected. The crowd was asked to prod her to make sure she was stunned, but she wasn’t. And then did she fight back and mauled three people before the tranquilizer took effect. Desperately she tried to stay afloat, but the sleeping doze was taking its effect, and she struggled to live.

The forest personnel, her protectors…then did they snare her and she was whisked away to be ‘taken care of’!!!!!!!!

So, where do I begin to grieve for this magnificent animal? Where do I begin to condemn us? Where do I begin to formally indict the forest department for their gross negligence? And  who do I ask for forgiveness?  After all she was just a tiger in a country where human life is just a life, nothing precious.
